The week did not get off to a great start for the Dawson County Tigers varsity basketball team. Playing without head coach Thad Burgess, due to an ejection, the Tigers lost a close contest to Fellowship Christian, 44-41, on Tuesday. It was the Tigers first loss of the season.
Things perked up over the weekend with two big wins over Tech High School, 100-29, on Friday and Towns County, 78-42, on Saturday.
During a time when most high school students are enjoying the pool and their time off from studies, the Dawson County High School cross country team is putting in several miles a day in anticipation of the upcoming season.
Dawson County Senior Madison Caldwell went into Monday's state championship golf match with nerves of steel, an unmatched mental focus and a drive to achieve the goal she set for herself four years ago.
