Madison Caldwell has been blessed with an ability to play golf well and she's not about to take it for granted. With a long windup and smooth follow through, she's developed a rare ability to blast a golf ball off the tee with driver in hands well in excess of 250 yards.

Tiger sports teams took part in a required "dead week" last week. The period runs from June 30 through July 6. Beginning four summers ago, the Georgia High School Association executive committee approved the "dead week" by request of the GHSA coaches.

The Tiger football team is working out in preparation for next season. Head Coach Jeff Lee will return a wealth of talent from last year's 6-5 Class AAA state playoff team. Summer basketball is in full swing for the Dawson County boys' program. Head Coach Thad Burgess will try to replace a very successful group of seniors. Burgess lost Tyler Dominy, Will Anglin, Gunnar Armstrong and Camron Chester to graduation from last year's 21-8 team. Two Tiger golfers played in the State Class AAA championships last week. Both golfers had to overcome wet conditions on their respective golf courses after torrential rain on May 19. Sophomore Madison Caldwell finished the 18-hole course at Chateau Elan in Braselton in fifth place and a score of 81.
