Lady Tigers still undefeated
The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team remains undefeated after manhandling Fannin County, 31-6, last week. Coach Tina Brown's team is currently 8-0 for the season.
8th graders drop a close one
The Riverview Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team dropped a close 32-28 decision last week to Pickens Middle in Jasper. With the Jan. 17 loss, the Lady Eagles are currently 4-5 on the season.
Lady Eagles heating up
The Riverview Middle School eighth grade Lady Eagles are getting hot at just the right time of year. With the Mountain League Tournament just around the corner coach Rhonda Sillesky's team pulled off two big wins last week. Riverview defeated Lumpkin County, 36-17, and Clear Creek, 33-30 to move the team's record to 4-4 on the season.
7th graders slay Dragons
The seventh grade Tigers basketball team at Dawson County Middle School defeated Pickens Middle 32-12, last week in Dawsonville. The Tigers were led in scoring in the Jan. 12 game by Austin Young. He contributed 9 points.
RMS girls improve record
The Riverview Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team improved its record to 2-3 with a 22-14 win over Fannin County and a 22-11 victory over Lumpkin County recently. Emily Queen led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 10 points against Fannin on Dec. 13.
Burgess scores 22 points
Haley Burgess tallied 22 points in a 45-20 rout over Jasper Middle School recently at home. Burgess scored more points than the entire Jasper team. With the win the Dawson County Middle eighth grade girls' team remains undefeated with a perfect 5-0 record.
Wrestlers have bright future
The Dawson County Middle School wrestling program has a bright future according to Head Coach Thomy Edwards. The Tigers wrestled their last match of the season with White County on Dec. 15. Although Dawson County lost the match, Edwards complimented his grapplers for a fine season.
Undefeated teams face off
It was a match-up of undefeated teams last week when the Dawson County eighth grade girls' basketball team played host to Clear Creek Middle from Gilmer County. In the end the Lady Tigers came away with a 46-24 victory.
Eighth graders outscore Clear Creek
The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Clear Creek Middle School, 33-25, last week. Head Coach Jonathan Tinsley's Tigers never trailed in the Dec. 8 ballgame, after taking a slim 9-5 first quarter lead.
Eighth-graders remain undefeated
The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team remains undefeated following a huge 49-8 win at Fannin County last week. Following the Dec. 1 game, the Lady Tigers are 3-0 on the season.
Rebounding hurts middle school Tigers
The Dawson County Middle School Tigers seventh grade basketball team lost to Fannin County 47-29 last week in Blue Ridge. The Dec. 1 loss was the first of the season for the Tigers. The Tigers are now 2-1 overall.
Eagles lose two
The Riverview Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team lost two games recently. On Nov. 15 the Eagles were defeated by Lumpkin County Middle, 38-23, and Nov. 17, the team dropped a 38-18 decision to Clear Creek Middle.
Middle school girls fall to Pickens County
The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team lost a 26-6 decision to Pickens County Middle recently. With the Nov. 17 loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 1-1 on the season.
Team tallies 2nd win
Head coach Steven Moates' seventh grade Dawson County Middle School boys basketball team picked up its second win of the season with a 24-15 victory over Pickens County Middle recently in Jasper. Dawson held a 14-7 lead at halftime behind leading scorer Parker Cantrell. Cantrell finished the Nov. 17 game with a team-high 9 points.
8th graders improve
Head Coach Rhonda Sillesky continues to see improvement with her eighth grade girls basketball team at Riverview Middle. Despite the improvement the Lady Eagles dropped a close contest to Clear Creek last week, 37-32.

Middle school teams merging
In what is being billed as both a cost-saving and competitive measure, Dawson County and Riverview middle schools will combine their football, softball and wrestling programs, as well as their football cheerleading squads.
Athletes excel
The school year was a great one for sports teams from both Riverview and Dawson County middle schools.
Eagles named runners-up
A talented Riverview Middle boys soccer team went into the recent championship game with a lot of confidence. Coach Patrick Johnston's team defeated Pickens 4-1 in the semi-finals to force a match-up with Clear Creek Middle School in the championship game March 28.
Girls win championship
A classic game between two equally skilled teams took place recently at Dawson County Middle School. The Mountain League Championship on March 28 between Dawson County and Riverview middle schools fares well for the future of soccer in Dawson County.
Lady Eagles outlast rivals
The Riverview Middle School Lady Eagle soccer team avenged an earlier defeat to rival Dawson County Middle with a 4-2 win March 21. Earlier this season, the Lady Tigers defeated Riverview by a 3-1 score.
Riverview defeats Dawson
The Riverview Middle School boys soccer team defeated Dawson County Middle, 4-1, last week. Coach Patrick Johnston's team followed Thursday's win with a 9-0 thrashing of Jasper Middle on Friday.
