The Riverview Middle School seventh grade boys' basketball team remained undefeated following a, 44-42, overtime win against Fannin County last week.
Coach Mark Thomason's team held a 3-point lead in regulation of the Dec. 12 game with nine seconds remaining when a Fannin player launched a desperation shot at the buzzer that tied the score at 35 and sent the game into overtime.
The Dawson County Middle School softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 defeat of cross-county rival Riverview on Friday.
Head coach Jessie Crane's Lady Tiger team scored two runs in the first inning on a walk by Mahlia Billingsley and hits by Natalie Glass and Sydney McGinnis. Another walk by Kaila Billingsley helped drive in the two runs during the Sept. 21 game.
The Dawson County Middle School softball team is still looking for its first win of the season. The Lady Tigers dropped two games last week. One to Fannin, 10-1, on Tuesday and to Pickens, 11-3, on Friday.
Natalie Glass was the highlight of the Fannin game. She hit a triple.
The Dawson County High School football staff is offering a six-week training program for middle school athletes that will include an introduction to the Dawson County offense, defense and special teams, Tiger training regimen and modern speed, power and agility training. The program is designed for upcoming seventh and eighth graders.
