It's time for nonprofits to again sign up for the Belk Charity Sale.
The fundraiser is held twice a year, in the spring and fall, with the next shopping event set for 6 to 10 a.m. Nov. 5.
Belk leaders invite nonprofits to sell $5 tickets prior to the event, keeping 100 percent of the proceeds.
There is no limit to the amount of tickets a group can sell or the amount of money they can raise.
James Foskett, human resources manager at the Lakeland Plaza location, said a number of area charities take part in the sale each time it's held.
"It's a great event because they get to keep all the profits and we provide all the materials. It's a win-win for them," Foskett said.
Some of the organizations that regularly participate include church, school and veterans groups, civic clubs and animal rescue organizations.
There's no deadline for those wanting to participate, but Foskett recommended signing up as soon as possible.
"The longer they have to sell tickets, the more money they'll make," he said.
Beginning on Oct. 28, tickets may also be purchased at Belk stores. All revenue from in-store ticket sales are equally divided among participating nonprofits.
On the morning of the sale, all groups at each store site can register to win one of three $1,000 donations from Belk.
According to reports from Belk, the event raised more than $9.5 million in 2010 for hundreds of participating charitable organizations across 16 states.
