Etowah Water and Sewer Authority announced last week that two members of its staff completed Class III certification to receive their wastewater treatment operator licenses.

Operators Jason Nix and Brian Hudson, both who have been employed with the authority for the last nine months, completed 40 hours of training in Carrollton to receive the certification. Three months of experience working at a wastewater treatment facility is also required to obtain a license.

Nix and Hudson’s responsibilities include treatment center operations, maintenance and lab technologies, to name a few.

Dolly Pendley, superintendent at the Dawson Forest Water Reclamation Facility, said she is very proud of Nix and Hudson’s accomplishment. “They’ve done us really proud. It’s not often that people pass the test the first time around. They’ve done good,” she said.

The authority also recognized Pendley last week, as it has for the previous 11 years. “This is the twelfth year that the plant has had no violations and received a Gold Aerobic Award. We’ve received the Gold Award every year but the first year, and then we didn’t apply for it,” Pendley said.
