Christie Haynes, president and CEO of the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and Office of Tourism Development has been named to the Leadership Georgia Class of 2018, according to a recent press release.
“I am honored to be selected as a participant of the upcoming Leadership Georgia class,” Haynes said. “It is a privilege to represent our community and Northeast Georgia with leaders from across the entire state.”
Leadership Georgia is a prestigious 47-year-old organization of community
and state leaders. Affiliated with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Leadership
Georgia trains and builds a network of emerging young leaders from across the
state.
Past participants include a
number of influential state and national leaders ranging from former U.S.
Senator Sam Nunn to former University of Georgia Athletic Director Vince
Dooley.
Sixty-three participants are selected each year from a pool of several hundred applicants. Class members visit five Georgia communities in a year-long exchange of ideas and experiences about important issues affecting the state.
“I am looking forward to meeting and learning from this diverse group of leaders,” Haynes said. “I’m also excited about the opportunity to learn more about our state and develop my personal leadership skills.”
The 2018 Class of Leadership Georgia will be led by President Matt Bishop. With a theme of “Rooted, Growing, Leading,” the 2018 program will visit Brasstown Valley, Cartersville, Jekyll Island, Moultrie and Covington.
