A north Georgia competitive clogging team was recently named the Overall National Grand Champion at the Clogging Champions of America National finale.
Synergy's Master Junior team from Sole Impulse Dance Studio in Cumming now holds five national titles, after dominating competitive circuits since 2011, winning overall national titles between three different elite dance and clogging organizations.
"These girls show up every week, bust their tails, and have all proven that they deserve to be on top and plan to stay there for a while. I could not be more proud of what they have accomplished," said Synergy's Director Sarah Darby Hughes of Dawsonville.
Synergy had five teams compete in two separate divisions during the "Showdown of Champions" competition in Knoxville, Tenn. in late January.
Synergy's novice and master teams won a spot to dance off for an overall title, following two days of grueling competition, according to Darby.
The Novice Junior team danced its way to second place overall, while Synergy's Master Junior team walked away with the Overall National Grand Champion title.
"We have done some really amazing things over the last year and a half from a television show on TLC, winning an overall title in Las Vegas last November, to opening for the world-famous Radio City Rockettes this past Christmas," Darby said.
"But, winning these titles and dominating both the novice and master's division at nationals was the best moment of my directing career thus far."
After coming off another overall Novice and Master win at a regional qualifier in Mars Hill, N.C. in February, Synergy is now training for a national competition in April before traveling to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio this May.
