A 31-year-old Dawsonville man who pleaded guilty to child molestation charges will spend at least 13 years in prison.
Robert Glenn Mayo entered guilty pleas Dec. 14 on two felony child molestation charges and one misdemeanor sexual battery charge before Superior Court Judge Bonnie Oliver.
Upon release, Mayo will have to spend the remaining 17 years of his 30-year sentence on probation.
He must also register as a sex offender, pay a fine of $3,000 and have no contact with the victim, who is younger than 16, or her family.
Mayo, of Stegall Place, was arrested in November after the teenager told a family member, who notified authorities.
According to sheriff’s reports, the sexual contact began in 2006 at the suspect’s home and continued on several occasions over the next four years.
Assistant District Attorney John Wilbanks said the family agreed to the plea arrangement, which kept the teen from having to testify in court.
Mayo is being held in Dawson County Sheriff’s custody pending transfer to a state facility.
