Kindergartner Calee Kunkel and second-grader McKenzie Kunkel are all smiles and excitement on Thursday, Aug. 6 for the first day of school at Blacks Mill Elementary. Dawson County School Superintendent Dr. Damon Gibbs said first day numbers showed 3,284 students system-wide. At a Monday night board of education meeting Gibbs said the first day back went very well. Robinson Elementary principal Roxanne Howard said it was the smoothest start she has seen in 31 years.
