Thrifty shoppers in Dawson County soon will have a new place to shop.
Dawsonville Goodwill will open its doors to the public July 17 at 9 a.m., said Elaine Armstrong, Goodwills director of
public relations.
The store will be located at 66 South 400 Center Lane.
Not only will the store bring bargains on used goods, it will also bring jobs. Opening a store allows us to create nearly 40 new jobs in Dawson County, Armstrong said.
Armstrong said hiring events are scheduled for June 17, 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chestatee Office Center, located at 75 Elliott Road.
She encouraged applicants to visit the website, www.GoodwillNG.org, before the event.
Goodwill has operated a donation center in Dawson County that Armstrong said has been well-supported by the community. Because we sell donated goods, our stores succeed when we have a strong donor base. We have operated a donation center in Dawsonville for some time now, and the community has supported us there. We feel Dawson County will be a good fit for our newest store location and we look forward to serving its residents, she said.
The mission of Goodwill of North Georgia is to put people to work, Armstrong said. We have provided services in the
region for more than 85 years.
According to Armstrong, in the 2013 fiscal year Goodwill provided job training and employment services to 40,702
people and helped 11,706 North Georgians start new businesses or find
jobs.
Each time you make a purchase or donate to Goodwill, you are helping your North Georgia neighbors find work, she
said.
