A Dawson County sheriffs deputy was charged with driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning.

He was identified as Robert Bo Tanner, 25, of Murrayville.

Public Information Officer Tony Wooten said a call came into the 911 center reporting around midnight March 30 that Tanner had been drinking and then drove to a residence in the city limits of Dawson County.

Dawson County officers arrived (at the residence) shortly after and made contact with Mr. Tanner, who was arrested and charged with DUI, Wooten said.

Because an internal investigation is being conducted, Wooten wouldnt say who called in the report or where Tanner allegedly had been drinking.

Tanner has been suspended without pay until the internal investigation is completed, Wooten said.

Tanners bail was set at $1,000; he has since bonded out of jail.

Tanner, a certified deputy assigned to the Dawson County Detention Center, has been employed with the sheriffs department since March of 2011, Wooten said.
