Students, teachers and parents stopped by Dec. 3 for Dawson County High School’s biannual  art show open house, a chance for young artists to display and sell some of the semester’s pottery and paintings.

Decorations for this semester’s theme, “The Emperor’s Garden,” were created by Brittney MacDonald, a senior at the high school.

Show Director Naomi Kelly, a senior, said the art show is the end product of the drawing, watercolor and sculpture class’s semester.

“We turn in our work a couple weeks before the show, and they get sorted and we put them up,” Kelly said. “We have the option of selling some of our work too.”

Art show worker Anna Howland, a senior, said the show is “a very rewarding opportunity to let your peers and community see what you’ve done over the past semester.”

Art from this year’s event was judged by alumni students of Dawson County High School.

First place winners included Caitlyn Carr, wheel pottery; Sydney Crumley, sculpture; Nikki Renfroe, hand built pottery; Tiffany Seay, watercolor; Naomi Kelly, acrylic; Kerri Tino, colored pencil; Lora Brown, graphic and Brigette Margeanu, mixed media and crayon.
