Dawson County Family Connection and the Dawson County School System will partner with the Farmers to Families Food Box Program to bring free fresh fruits and vegetables to local families on Monday, June 8.
The food box pickup will take place at Dawson County Junior High School on Monday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until all the food boxes are gone, according to a press release from Dawson County Family Connection.
Food boxes will be available to anyone at no cost, and there are no eligibility requirements, according to the release. There will be a limit of 1 box per family and 2 boxes per vehicle.
Farmers to Families Food Box is dedicated to partnering with local farmers and non-profits like Family Connection to bring local families free wholesome fruits and vegetables, according to the release.
“USDA is partnering with farmers, ranchers, specialty crop producers, food processors and distributors, and non-profit organizations to ensure that all Americans have access to the free and wholesome food they need during the COVID-19 national emergency,” the release said.
Food boxes will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
