The Dawsonville City Council plans to take a new look at its alcohol ordinance during a special called meeting Monday.
The 5 p.m. meeting will be held in the G.L. Pete Gilleland Council Chambers at city hall.
Mayor Joe Lane Cox said the meeting follows discussions about a catered event scheduled at the Bowen Center for the Arts in November.
Representatives with the Dawson County Humane Society want to be able to serve alcohol Nov. 5 during the group's annual Fur Ball fundraiser at the center.
Cox said there have been questions in the past concerning alcohol at the arts center, because it sits on school property adjacent to Dawson County Middle School.
"We're going to look and see if we could revise our alcohol ordinance to make this easier, and hopefully let them be able to raise some money," Cox said. "Of course, I think we'd have to limit the hours alcohol could be served."
The meeting is open to the public and may include executive session, according to the public notice.
