Hwy. 53 east was closed between the Ga. 400 and Dawson Forest Road intersections this afternoon for two hours as authorities investigated a bomb threat at the Sonic restaurant.

According to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson, at approximately 3:50 p.m.,  the 911 center received information that an anonymous caller telephoned the Dawsonville Sonic and made a bomb threat.

The roadway and business were shut down until the restaurant could be cleared, Johnson said. At approximately 5:50 p.m. the store and the adjoining roadways were re-opened.
