An overturned log truck closed Hwy. 53 West about a mile and a half outside of Dawsonville just east of Elliott Family Parkway early Monday evening.

Authorities are encouraging motorist to use Howser Mill Road as an alternate route.

The roadway is expected to remain closed for several hours as clean up crews remove the wreckage.

No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved in the incident, which occurred about 5:30 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck
