Outages expected during line upgrades

Residents in western Dawson County should plan for power outages Oct. 19-20 as Amicalola EMC upgrades power lines in the area.

  

“At times, in order to ensure adequate and reliable service, especially during the summer and winter months when usage is at its highest, it becomes necessary to upgrade existing power lines,” said Stacey Fields, director of public relations with the corporation.

  

The upgrades must be performed while the power is off.

  

There will be scheduled power outages to perform the upgrades on the following days:

  

Work begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 19 and will be on Yellow Creek Road, Eagle Perch Road, Conns Creek Road, Fletcher Drive, Roscoe Collett Road (in Cherokee County), Shiloh Church Road, Spriggs Trail, Old Federal Road and all side roads connecting.

  

After lunch, crews will be on Lovelady Road, Kelly Bridge Road, Roscoe Collett Road (in Dawson County), Cowart Road south of Kelly Bridge Road, Etowah Drive and all side connecting roads.

  

Work begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 20 on Sweetwater Juno Road, Goldmine Road, Nugget Ridge Road, Duck Thurmond Road, Sweetwater Church Road, Hwy. 53 from the Amicalola River bridge to Hwy. 183 and all connecting side roads.

  

Beginning between 10 and 11 a.m., crews will be working on Hwy. 53 from Foothills Church to the Amicalola River bridge, Amicalola Church Road, Chumbley Road, Holcomb Road, Steele Bridge Road, Cowart Road north of Kelly Bridge Road, Kelly Bridge Road and all side roads.

  

Outages are expected to last between two and four hours.

  

Amicalola EMC said every effort will be made to make all changes as quickly and as safely as possible.

  

In the event of rain or bad weather, the work will be postponed until the next day weather permits.
