Hotrod enthusiasts are encouraged to go "Cruising Toward a Cure" Saturday at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame.

Onsite registration for the car show, which benefits Dawson County Relay for Life, starts at 10 a.m.

All cars must be registered by noon to be considered for judging.

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for Favorite Ford, Favorite Chevy, Best Truck and Mayor's Choice, among others. Trophies will be presented at 1:30 p.m.

"We are looking for anything from oldies but goodies and newer model hotrods--either works in progress or fully restored," said Event Organizer Nicole Stewart.

Pre-registration is $20 or $25 the day of the event.

Fees collected at the car show will go toward the local Relay for Life committee's $40,000 fundraising goal.

As of Tuesday, 24 Relay for Life teams had raised more than $37,000 in support of cancer research, patient programs, services and education efforts.

Relay for Life, a 12-hour event that offered fun for the entire family while remembering those affected by cancer, was held April 25 in Dawson County.

The car show was originally planned for that morning, but the threat of rain storms forced organizers to reschedule.
