Severe storms Tuesday resulted in numerous downed power lines and trees across Dawson County.

“We are aware of numerous trees down across the county, many involving power lines,” the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office stated in a July 30 Facebook post. “We are working with partnering agencies and power companies to get roads opened as soon as possible. We ask that you remain patient and stay off the roads if at all possible.”

DCSO has not currently received calls about debris blocking roads this morning, Public Information Officer Sgt. Matthew Blackstock told DCN.

Hundreds of outages have been reported across Dawson County, the majority of which are impacted Amicalola EMC customers. As of Wednesday morning, Amicalola EMC's outage map still showed a few hundred outages reported by Dawson-area residents in their service area.
