Paving will soon begin along one busy Dawsonville and Dawson County roadway.
Blount Construction will start paving Burt Creek Road on Sept. 3, according to a notice from the Dawson County Government.
“It will take about two weeks to complete. Please be patient and follow all signs, obey flaggers and drive cautiously to keep yourself and other drivers safe,” the post stated.
In June, Dawson County commissioners approved over $2.5 million for fixes along Burt Creek Road and at trails and parking areas at Dawson County’s popular Rock Creek Park.
Just over $1.382 million of that amount was for projects along Burt Creek Road, which will be paid for using Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax 7 funds, according to previous reporting by DCN.
The Burt Creek Road portion of the bid included full-depth reclamation or complete repair along the county portion of the roadway, deep patch and resurfacing along the city portion of the route and culvert replacements along the roadway.
Nearby, the one-percent transportation sales tax or TSPLOST, which Dawson County voters recently approved in May, is set to help pay for $396,000 toward fixes at the Burt Creek-Shoal Creek intersection.
DCN will continue following construction projects along this local roadway.
