Alice Mae Hicks, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County (the Free Home community) died Sept. 16, 2013.
She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a member of the WMU and the adult choir.
Among her hobbies, she enjoyed talking on the phone, singing, her family and the Atlanta Braves.
Her husband, Everett Hicks; and a son, the Rev. Danny Hicks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Livingston of Free Home; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hicks of Free Home; grandchildren, Courtney and Tim Sweatman of Dawsonville, Tanya Hicks, Tamara and Jerry Hales, all of Free Home; great-grandchildren, Canaan, Shiloh and Tekoah Sweatman; brother-in-law, the Rev. Herbert Youngblood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Gloria Hicks; sisters-in-law, Gwen Timms, Doris Hicks, Louie Wilkie, Gladys Mashburn; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Purcell, Wilbur Ridings and Danny Orr officiating. Interment followed in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Sept. 18.
