Bob Waldrop, 84, of Gainesville died March 27, 2011.

 

He was born in Atlanta on Jan. 13, 1927 to the late Leo F. and Nola McKinley Waldrop.

 

Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years in the Food Service and Brokerage industry. Later he owned Waldrop Tire Company in Conyers for several years. Following his retirement he was an active member of the Mended Hearts Volunteer Group at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

 

His parents and his first wife and mother of his children, Nell Patrick Waldrop, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Slaton Waldrop of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda W. and Jim Clark of Englewood, Fla. and Gail and Ricky Geeslin of Conyers; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Claudia Waldrop of Carrolton; brother, Jack Waldrop of Peachtree City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 30 at New Holland Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Taylor and Dr. Ricky Thrasher officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends.
