Dorothy Hamilton Turner, 85, of Dahlonega, died Jan. 2, 2014.
Born May 21, 1938 in Winder, to the late Fred and Katie Hamilton, she had been a resident of Lumpkin County for the past 25 years, having moved from Cobb County.
Mrs. Turner was a very talented seamstress and was an active member of the Dawson County Historical Society.
Affectionately known as "Dot" and "Mema" by her family and friends, she was preceded in death by nine siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Clinton W. Turner Sr. of Dahlonega; daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Turner, Rosemary and Steve Inlow, all of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton W. Jr. and Cindy Turner of Kennesaw; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Hamilton Shaw of Cartersville, Polly and Robert Evans of Monroe; brother, Paul Hamilton of Hoschton; grandchildren, Beth and Bill Harper, Amy and Chris Dunn, Suzy and Frank Madonna, Sofi Turner, Tucker Turner; great-granddaughter, Berkley Harper; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Fields officiating. Interment followed in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
