Edward J. Engle III, 75, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 11, 2016.
Born Aug. 15, 1941 in Scranton, Pa., to the late Edward J. Jr. and Lucille Engle, Mr. Engle grew up in Wilmington, Del.
He earned a Bachelors' Degree from the University of Delaware and retired as vice president of research and development for FiberVisions after 40 years of service. His research led to several patents in the fiber industry.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed golf, gardening, jogging and world travels.
He was fortunate enough to travel with his wife to all seven continents and more than 100 countries.
Mr. Engle was a member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Catherine "Cathy" Engle of Dawsonville; children, Ann Engle Brucker and her husband, Jeff, of Austin, Texas, Julie Engle Economos and her husband, Steve, Edward J. Engle IV, all of Atlanta; grandchildren, MJ Economos, Ty Economos, Catelin Economos, Jacob Economos, Camden Brucker, Peyton Brucker and Channing Brucker; various other relatives also survive.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church with the Fr. Brian J. Higgins officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the funeral home.
