James Clyde Harrington, 82, of Cumming, died Saturday, July 5, 2008.

Mr. Harrington was a member of Cumming Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for 40 years.

As a county commissioner for Forsyth County, he owned and operated Forsyth Industries in Cumming.

He also served on the City Council of Roswell and was on the state Board of Technical Schools, being one of the original board members of Lanier Tech. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Harrington  had also donated land helping to establish Amicalola Falls State Park.

Survivors include his spouse, Jerry Harrington; sons and daughter-in-law, Jim and Melinda Harrington, III and Mike Kellam; daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Patrick Steele; sisters and brother-in-law, Francine Guy and Doris and Fred Phillips; grandchildren, Hunter Harrington, Heather Harrington and Andrea Kellam; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at Cumming Baptist Church with Revs. Randy Rye and Roger Williams officiating. Entombment followed at Sawnee View Mausoleum.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
