Jerry Gibson, 69, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 10, 2015.
Born Jan. 21, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana, he lived in Lumpkin County for 18 years before moving to Dawson County, where he lived most of his life.
Jerry owned and operated Jerry Gibson Trucking for more than 40 years.
He was a member of Etowah Lodge No. 222 F&AM for more than 30 years and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he was very devoted to his family.
His sister, Joyce Crane; and a brother, Wayne Gibson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Etrulya "Sis" Gibson of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jeff Cantrell of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Parker Cantrell, Jerrah Cantrell; special nephew, Jerry Garrett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal and Golden Barron of Dahlonega, Brenda and Charles Ralston of Bonaire, Debbie and Don Carder of Gainesville; brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin Gibson of Dawsonville, Morris and Judy Gibson of Clyde, N.C.; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Burt and the Dr. Scott Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
