Joe J. Arrendale, 80, of Dawsonville, died March 27, 2011.
Born Nov. 22, 1930 in Lumpkin County to the late Ernest and Stella Arrendale, he lived most of his life in Dawson County.
For more than 50 years, he owned and operated Dawsonville Gutter Service.
Joe was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the 82nd Airborn Division during the Korean Conflict.
A member of Juno Baptist Church since 1963, he was ordained as a deacon on April 21, 1990. He also served many years as Sunday School Superintendent and as church secretary and treasurer for 16 years.
He was a 50-year member of Etowah Lodge #222 F&AM.
His brother, Seldon Arrendale, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo Arrendale of Dawsonville; children, Rick and Deborah Arrendale of Acworth, Jennifer and Brian Bartlett of Cumming; sister, Susie Chester of Dawsonville; brother and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Joyce Arrendale, Dora Arrendale, all of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Allison Arrendale, Joseph Arrendale, Jessica and Tommy Brock, Taylor Watson, Holly and Ben Crawshaw, Cole Watson; great-grandchildren, Noah Brock, Daniel Brock, Jonah Brock, Lilah Crawshaw; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. March 30 at Juno Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Bottoms and Tim Biddy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Juno Baptist Church Building Fund, 3185 Elliott Family Parkway, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
