Joyce Elizabeth Spain, 67, of Dawsonville, died June 22, 2011.
Mrs. Spain was born Sept. 30, 1943 in Dawson County to the late R.B. and Ruby Whitmire.
She lived her life in Dawson County, except for 13 years she spent in Hall County.
Joyce was formerly employed by Lockheed, after which she was employed for many years as an electronic technician for Standard Telephone Company. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Charles E. Spain of Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, Mechelle and Bruce Roydes, Kim England, Kelly Wilson, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura Dean Long, Judy and Bob Coker, Thelma Jean and Bob Jerls, all of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Sarah Whitmire of Tennessee, Herbert and Janice Whitmire of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Amanda and Jonathan Hand, Amber and Adam Freeman, Marah Wilson, Leigh Wilson, Bruce Roydes Jr.; great-granddaughters, Lillian Hand, Harlie Grace Freeman; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 25 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Lyman Cladwell and Adam Freeman officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
