Larry Daniel “Luke” Martin, 62, of Dawsonville, died April 26, 2011.
Born Jan. 20, 1949 to the late Marvin Daniel and Geraldine Pugh Martin, he spent most of his life living in Dawson County.
Luke was a U.S. Army veteran of Veitnam and after serving in the military he worked for General Motors for nine years before retiring after becoming disabled.
He married Anne Spivey in 1973 and they lived in Dawson County for 38 years.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, reading and spending time with his two grandsons.
Luke was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Martin of Dawsonville; daughter, Misty Leann Martin Caldwell of Dawsonville; son, Kevin Daniel Martin of Dawsonville; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Lloyd Crane of Dawsonville; grandsons, Tyler Thomas Caldwell, Tanner Luke Caldwell; three special nieces and nephews, Lisa and Jeff Perry, Tina and Frank Brown, Dena and Brady LeBaran, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 29 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Mitchell Rickett, Stephen Davis and Ruel Martin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
