Macey S. Shelton, 78, of Dawsonville, died Feb. 8, 2017.
Born May 7, 1938 to the late Russell and Cena Stanley, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for a short time coming from Gaston County, N.C.
Shelton retired from R.L. Stowe Mills where she worked for a number of years at the Chronical Plant.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved to sing, make flower arrangements and put together puzzles.
Her husband, Howard Morris Shelton; sons, Howard William Shelton and Michael Dean Shelton; and a number of brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Alice Humphrey of Lincolnton, N.C., Sharon (Doug) Poole of Lowell, N.C., Marie Shelton of Fayetteville, N.C., Rose Lynn (Gerald) Chumbley of Dawsonville, R.J. (Shirley) Shelton of Holden Beach, N.C., James Shelton of Denver, N.C., and Paul Shelton of Belmont, N.C.; sisters and brother-in-law Ann and Carl Singleton of Brunswick, Judy Knight of Alma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and various other relatives also survive.
Memorial services were held Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Owens officiated.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Feb. 11 from 3 p.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to help offset final expenses.
Bearden Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
