Margaret Cantrell, 89, of Cumming, died Saturday, July 19, 2008.

 

The daughter of the late Charlie and Ada Castleberry, Mrs. Cantrell was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Forsyth County.

 

She was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing produce with family and friends and was a caregiver for her parents, a brother, a sister and her beloved husband during all of their illnesses.

 

Mrs. Cantrell was not only a Grandma to all her six grandchildren, but provided care for them while their parents worked full time.

 

She was  the eldest female member of Harmony Grove  Baptist Church, where she had been a member for decades.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Herbert Cantrell; sisters, Laura Parks Cantrell, Ada Ann Castleberry; brothers, Guy Castleberry, Pete Castleberry, Kim Castleberry, Lee Castleberry, Jamie Castleberry, Warren G. Castleberry; son-in-law, Everett English.

 

Survivors include her children, Patsy Vaughn English, Charles and Dianne Cantrell, Elizabeth and Roger Garrett, all of Cumming; brother, Herbert Castleberry; grandchildren, Dwayne and Erin Vaughn, Angie Mullinax, Michael and Gail Cantrell, Julie and Keith Bentley, Amy Garrett and Laura and Craig Richard; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Vaughn, Ashley Mashburn, Noah Mullinax, Mystical Cantrell, Cole Cantrell, Drew Bentley, Cade Bentley, Tate, Ben and Cora Richard; sisters-in-law, Annie Grace Castleberry, Mildred Castleberry, Christine Cross and Norma English; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were Monday, June 21 at 3 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with her remains placed in state at 2:30 p.m. Revs. Jeff Wilkie, Vernie Worley and Craig Richard officiating.

 

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

 

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
