Marilyn M. Mason died May 9, 2015.
She was born in Atlanta and attended E. Rivers Grammar School, ultimately graduating from North Fulton High School before going on to attend Ward-Belmont College In Nashville.
Desiring to further her artistic talents, she then moved to New York to study fashion illustration before returning to Atlanta after two years in art school.
Some of Marilyn's artworks hang in the Dawson County courthouse today.
A debutante of the Atlanta chapter, she then married Robert Mason and started her family while still in Atlanta.
Returning to her family's ancestral county in the early sixties, she and her husband, Robert, ultimately retired to their property in Dawson County, enjoying the many social contacts that she had amongst both friends and business associates.
Ever active in promoting the Gospel of Christ throughout her life, she remained a close friend and confidant to her many church friends and close business associates, as well as a supporter of numerous organizational and individual charitable causes.
Survivors include her daughters, Chris Huff and Lee Hodges; son, Mark; and grandson, John Hodges; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. May 14 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Sawnee View Gardens.
McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
