Max Swafford, 83, of Decatur, died Aug. 23, 2018. Born Aug. 9, 1935 in Dawson County to the late Carl and Mae Swafford, he had lived in Decatur for the past five years. Max retired as a commercial truck driver. He loved and enjoyed NASCAR, country music, playing his guitar and the Atlanta Braves. His wife, Gail Wilson Swafford, and sisters, Cleo Bruce and Lois Chumley, preceded him in death.
