Patsy A. Echols, 64, of Cumming, died Dec. 29, 2014.

Patsy was born in Dawsonville and graduated from Forsyth County High School, where she excelled as a varsity basketball player.

She married Joe Echols, her high school sweetheart on Feb. 2, 1968.

After Joe was discharged from the U.S. Army the couple resided in Cumming.

Patsy retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where she was a rural carrier.

Her parents, Grace Mathis Hyde and William Edward Hyde, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Echols; daughter, Karen Echols; son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Danielle Echols; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 2 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. Craig Richards and Larry Vaughn officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
