Randy Banta, 58, of Martin, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.

Born in Chicago, Ill., he moved to Dawson County at an early age and graduated from Dawson County High School.

He had lived in Stephens County since 1996 and was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.

His mother, Charlotte Banta, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Banta of Martin; son, Adam Michael Banta of Martin; father, Dallas Banta of Dawsonville; sisters, Kay St. John, Debra Maxwell, both of Dawsonville; niece, Kristi Wertz; various other relatives also survive.

At his request, Mr. Banta was cremated and no services are planned.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
