Robert P. Sparrow

Robert P. Sparrow, 84, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 22, 2011.

 

Born Jan. 24, 1926 in Smyrna to the late Walter and Loretta Sparrow, he had lived in Dawson County for 12 years, having moved from Cumming. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, Mr. Sparrow enjoyed a long and well-respected career as a homebuilder in the Atlanta area.

 

He was widely known for his hard work ethic, honest approach and demand for quality workmanship.

 

Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

 

He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church.

 

His son, Sidney R. Sparrow, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Sparrow of Dawsonville; children, Sheila Sparrow, Sherri and Mark Helms, all of Dawsonville, Stan and Judi Sparrow of Roswell; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and George Pruitt of Marietta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial services were held at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at Cornerstone Christian Church with Pastor Joe Gaines officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 922 Morris Street, Dalton, GA 30721.

 

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
