Ronald G. Swanson, 77, of Dawsonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008.

  

A native of Murray County, he had lived in Dawson County since 1993, having moved from Jonesboro.

  

A former heavy equipment operator, he was also employed by the Atlanta City Board of Education and retired as a maintenance foreman after 34 years of service.

  

Mr. Swanson was a life member of the Jonesboro Lodge #87 F&AM and after moving to Dawson County, joined the Matt Lodge #694 F&AM and was Past Master of each.

  

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, O.D. and Louise Swanson; and, three brothers.

  

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Faye Crowe Swanson of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Bess Crowe, Wanda and Jimmy Bruce, all of Dawsonville, Marie and Jackie Johnson of Cumming; sisters-in-law, Ina Swanson of Knoxville, Tenn., Joan Goodison of New York; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Clifford Allen and Wally Woodcock officiating. Mr. Swanson was then taken to Peeples Funeral Home in Chatsworth for interment services, Friday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Holly Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
