Ruth Mills Heard, 88, of Cumming, died April 9, 2011.

Ruth was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church.

She was active in many church, school and community activities. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and being with her family.

Her husband, Mark Heard Jr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Paula Heard Gault Hughes (Robert), Patricia Heard, Nancy Elise Heard, Jack Heard (Nancy W.), Sam Heard (Mary), all of Cumming; grandchildren, Kelley K. Story (Sam), Kristin Martin-Mohr (Doug), Jessica Heard, Jonathan Heard, Caroline Heard, Elizabeth Heard, Mark Heard; step-grandchildren, Michelle Leak (Chris), Melanie Martin (Matt), Chris Hughes, Chandler Barnett; four great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Heard McClure, Jeanne Martin Mills; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. April 12 at Coal Mountain Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Bennett and John Lummus, and Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. Interment followed at Coal Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Coal Mountain Baptist Church, 3220 Dahlonega Hwy., Cumming, GA 30040 or to the charity of your choice.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
