With the first match of the season rapidly approaching, the Dawson County High School wrestling team began practicing during the final weeks of October. Head Coach Arron Haynes feels good about the team’s chances in the upcoming season.
“We have a good core of seniors, some of the best I’ve seen in a long time,” Haynes said. “They are good leaders and we have a good group of young wrestlers who are willing to learn.”
Led by team captain Levi Baggett, who is looking to improve on his fifth place finish at the state tournament last year, the group also features seniors Kelton LeBaron (two time state qualifier) and Wyatt Smith (who finished fourth in state last year), the team has set the lofty goal of putting a wrestler on the podium in all 14 weight classes this year.
