The Dawson County junior varsity football team was victorious over Pickens County last Thursday in Jasper by a convincing 26-7 score. The Tigers moved to 3-1 on the season with the win.
Both teams were sluggish in the first quarter. Neither of them could post a score as the quarter ended in a 0-0 game.
The Tigers quickly scored to open up the second quarter on a Tyler Dominy to Bruce Clark strike from 41-yards out. Jacob Pickelsimer added the extra point and Dawson held a 7-0 lead.
Dominy hit a wide-open Will Anglin from 37-yards out to give the Tigers a 13-0 lead just before halftime. Pickelsimer added the point after.
Dawson went into the locker room with an insurmountable 14-0 advantage.
The junior varsity Tigers added another touchdown in the third quarter on a 67-yard run by Brandon Shaw. The point after was not good and Dawson held a 20-0 lead.
Shaw broke loose again in the fourth quarter on another long run of 68-yards for his second touchdown of the game. The extra point was no good, but Dawson was ahead 26-0.
Pickens finally got on the scoreboard on a 50-yard punt return by Titus Henderson to make the final score of the game 26-7.
The Tigers will play host to Union County at Tiger Stadium this Thursday.
Kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m.
