The Dawson County varsity wrestling team improved to a dual record of 23-7 with three wins last week.
Head coach Arron Haynes' Tigers team defeated Oglethorpe County, 57-23, Buford, 48-27 and East Hall, 54-22, in matches held at Buford High School.
In the Jan. 17 match against Oglethorpe, five Tigers wrestlers won by way of pin.
Justin Evans (106 pounds) started the rout of the Patriots with a pin over Dustin Mortin.
Coty Greer (126 pounds), Zach Guy (145 pounds), Levi Pressley (152 pounds) and Josh Gee (220 pounds) also won.
Travis Dawson pulled out a 6-1 decision over the Patriots Tennyson Hull at 138 pounds.
Picking up points by way of forfeit were: Preston Adams (160 pounds), Rick Brown (170 pounds), Evan Kells (182 pounds) and Joseph Toal (195 pounds).
Against host school, Buford, the Tigers were dominant.
Pinning their Buford opponents were: Justin Evans (106 pounds) over Daulton Dale, James Evans (126 pounds) over Waseed Abdulla, Travis Dawson over Grant Godbee, Levi Pressley (152 pounds) over Stephen Thrasher, Evan Kells (182 pounds) over Daniel Zamora, Colton Chester (220 pounds) with a second period pin over Michael Paolozzi, and Josh Gee (285 pounds) over Nathan Matson.
Cory Jenkins (132 pounds) defeated Dylan Dailey with a 7-3 decision.
Tigers Preston Adams (160 pounds) picked up an 8-3 win over Michael Lane.
In the final match the Tigers routed East Hall by 32-points to pick up the win.
Seven Dawson County wrestlers won by way of a pin.
Pinning their Viking opponents were: Justin Evans (106 pounds), Cory Jenkins (132 pounds), Travis Dawson (138 pounds), Preston Adams (160 pounds), Rick Brown (170 pounds), Evan Kells (182 pounds) and Joseph Toal (195 pounds).
Picking up wins by way of forfeit were: James Evans (126 pounds) and Josh Gee (220 pounds).
Dawson participated in the Northwest Georgia Duals on Saturday at Chattooga High School. Results were not available as of press time.
Haynes' team will travel to Rockmart this Friday to face the Yellow Jackets. Matches will begin at 5 p.m.
On Saturday the Tigers will participate in the Tiger Invitational Duals at Darlington High School. Matches will begin at 9 a.m.
