The Dawson County 12U Girls Basketball All-star team were recently crowned the GRPA District 7 Champions for 2018.  They breezed through the district tournament held Feb. 23 and 24 at Rock Creek Park and walked away with a 4-0 tournament record.  This victory advanced them to the GRPA State tournament, which was held March 2 and 3, in Bremen, where they fought hard but came up a few points short.  Dawson County Parks and Recreation staff expressed their congratulations to the group for an excellent all-star season.

 “They have worked extremely hard over the past couple of months to become the team that they are,” said Buffie Hamil with Dawson County Parks and Rec. “We are extremely proud of this group of young ladies and coaches and see a bright future ahead for them.”

Players on the team were Maggie Allen (0), Anna Ayers (4), Heather Burt (33), Morgan Chester (13), Kindra Coker (14), Mary Beth Gober (23), Madison Green (15), Grace Nissen (42), Abby Samples (30) and Jaci Wilson (45). The head coach was Barry Slaton and the assistant coaches were Ty Slaton and Kasey Wilson.
