The Tigers boys’ basketball team finished their summer with a final team camp at Birmingham-Southern University in Alabama last week.
The team completed their summer games answering some questions for head coach Thad Burgess. “We found some things out about our team over the last three weeks,” Burgess said.
Though the camp wasn’t as successful as the Berry College and University of Georgia camps, Burgess was still optimistic about his chances next season. “We didn’t play good at all at this camp, but our kids kept fighting in every game we played,” he said.
“I don’t know if our legs were tired or what,” said Burgess. “We looked tentative against the teams that were here this week. It was the same story for us in our games. We would play hard in the first half and just fade away in the second half. It was obvious what our weaknesses were and they really stood out this week.”
The team will be off for the next three weeks before beginning fall workouts when school opens. “The guys really need some time off. They look tired. So the break will be good for us. We will get right back at it when school starts,” Burgess said.
